Analytic approach to home security systems

Posted by admin

Addressing the risk factors of having a house without Home Security Systems involve many issues including cost, cultural differences, access to information and informed decision making. The costs and impact of many risk reducing security actions are easier to measure at the Individual/familial level than at the community and society levels. So let’s begin discussing about how my family has resorted to DIY Security Systems. According to my husband, a policeman, there is an ongoing research to determine the effectiveness of general crime prevention at home as opposed to the targeting of solving the presence of crime itself. There are perceptive variations related to security seeking behaviours and individual choice and responsibility for security promotion, maintenance and management. There are also significant differences in the relationships between the security forces (e.g. the police) and the public in terms of sharing information and making homes a safer and more secured place.
Access to and use of accurate, relevant, unbiased information is important at all levels from the individual to the police and the policy makers. Here in the US, the awareness about the lack of home security and the consequences of this is low. Hence there is an obvious case for more information in terms of home-security. The initiative of husband’s local police department, aims at ensuring that individuals and families has access to an informed home security decision. An example of the benefits of home security information is the sudden and sustained reduction in crimes brought about by the lack of home- security. Hence, there is an need for informed individuals to disseminate the information about the importance of home security. Simultaneously, organizations and the local police should never tire of reminding the public to have home security system that will protect them from crimes like burglary, or worse, crime-related death that may happen in their homes.
